- I am going to start at the police academey in Aug.
and I was wondering, Can you be a police officer and still do bail
recovery --like when not on duty. I know that If you find money as a
police officer and turn it in, you don't get the money if its not
claimed. It becomes county money--you cannot get it after a waiting
period like suvillians do. Is this true for bail recovery? And if so
can you run a bail recovery business as a police officer--or are you
excluded all together. Thanks for your help.

- It is typically considered a conflict of interest
and against department policy (and sometimes State law) for sworn
law enforcement to be involved in Bail Recovery.
-
- If a bail recovery agent finds money in the course
of his work and takes it- that would be considered theft since we do
not have the right to seize property.
-
- That's "academy" and "civilian"
